The Berry Farm Cottage Café as it is known today was originally a group settler’s home circa 1925.
Vera Vinall created the cottage gardens from 1946 –1949, which was then known as Thornhill Farm. With many of Vera’s original flowers and trees still thriving, our gardener Fede takes great pride in keeping the garden as authentic as possible.
While full of many different plants and flowers, we have to admit that we love our roses. The rose featured in our photos is called Rosa ‘Eden’. It is also called Pierre de Ronsard, who was a French renaissance poet who referenced a rose in one of his most famous poems. The Pierre de Ronsard has also won the title of ‘Worlds Favourite Rose’ and holds a place in the ‘Rose Hall of Fame’ (which is real, go look it up!)
